This year, I thoroughly enjoyed container gardening. Being my second year, I can confidently say that I have gained a wealth of knowledge compared to the previous year. As I previously discussed in a post, container gardening serves as an excellent entry point into gardening, particularly for those lacking space for a traditional garden.
This year, I added two peace lilies to my collection of plants. These plants hold a special significance for me as they were meaningful gifts from my dear friends at my grandmother's home-going.
I placed them in Walmart planters from their latest 2024 collection, and they exceeded my expectations. The planters completely changed the appearance of the plants and were a great addition. Note: Some planters are linked.
I added some more Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) plants to my collection. These plants are a personal favorite of mine because they considered a low-maintenance plants that can live in numerous conditions. They can thrive in sunlight, indirect sunlight, bright and low light. I placed them in hanging planters from Amazon. The planters are not only perfectly crafted with a water well for drainage, they are sturdy and downright beautiful.

Begonias are recognized for their stunning foliage and are considered to be low-maintenance plants. They are ideal for container gardening and can produce blooms for extended periods, with some even flowering all year round when kept indoors. I decided to plant numerous begonias on my back porch to enhance the area with their beautiful foliage and blooms. I added quite of a few to my plant collection this year.

I am a big fan of hydrangeas and have recently included a few in my plant collection. Hydrangeas are simple to care for as long as their soil and fertilizer requirements are fulfilled. They thrive in full to partial sunlight and need to be kept consistently moist.

Having planted some Mandevilla plants last year and this year, they have quickly become my top favorite additions to this year's potted plants collection! These plants are perfect for landscaping as well as container gardening. Their stunning flowering vines create a striking focal point. With their low-maintenance nature, caring for them has been a breeze.
The snake plant is highly favored and well-suited for container gardening as it thrives in different conditions. It needs minimal watering and should only be watered when the soil is dry. Due to their easy maintenance, they are a top choice for me, and I typically add one to my collection every year. The planter is also from Walmart.
I recently added a philodendron selloum plant to add to my collection. Initially unsure about this plant due to my lack of familiarity with it, I have come to appreciate its large and lush stems. Similar to my other plants, caring for it has been quite straightforward. Just like my peace lilies, I decided to place them in the same Walmart planters, given their capacity to thrive and spread outward.
For the past two years, container gardening has brought me great joy. It has been incredibly therapeutic and is something I eagerly anticipate each year. As we are now approaching Fall and the end of the 2024 gardening seasoning, I hope you have gained new knowledge and feel inspired to perhaps begin your own collection for the 2025 gardening season.
