When I decided on container gardening, I decided to start with low maintenance plants since it would be my first year gardening. Here are the low maintenance plants that I potted.
Pothos

Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) is considered a low-maintenance plants that can live in numerous conditions. It can thrive in sunlight, indirect sunlight, bright and low light. I planted some pothos on my back porch and even planted one in my home office. They can thrive in fluorescent lighting which is why they are commonly seen in work offices.
Dracaena Trifasciata

Snake plant (Dracaena trifasciata) is a very popular plant and are ideal for container gardening since its grows in various conditions. It does not require a lot of watering and only requires it when the soil is dry. You can go for about two weeks at a time between watering and even longer in colder months. These plants do not care for cold weather so I plan to move the ones I have planted outdoors inside during the winter months.
Begonia

Begonias are also relatively low maintenance plants and are known for their beautiful foliage. They are great for container gardening and can bloom for very long periods of time, some all year if place indoors. I planted quite a few of these outdoors on my back porch to create beautiful blooms and foliage.
Succulents

I love succulents because they are relatively easy to grow. They thrive in light and do not require a lot of watering because they retain water in good soil conditions. I planted two succulent plants in small containers to place on my outdoor dining table.
Mandevilla

I planted some Mandevilla plants and they are currently one of my favorite plants that I potted this year! They are beautiful for landscaping and container garden. They are known for their flowering vine which makes for a dramatic statement piece. It has low-maintenance characteristic and has been very easy for me to care for.
