Tips On How to Create a Stunning Oversized Orchid Centerpiece

Orchids are my favorite flower especially when it comes to styling and home decor purposes. I am always in awe when I see one especially the larger sized arrangements. But.... let's keep it real, they can be really expensive to purchase at a store. I have purchased a few over the years for my home but never really found one that truly satisfied my needs.

Simply put, orchids are exquisitely beautiful and are easily the focal point of any room.

And they are relatively simple to make. While I love caring for real flowers, I wanted to make an artificial arrangement for my living room that would require less maintenance since I already care for a great deal of plants outdoors.

To get started, I gathered all the materials that I needed and placed them in all together for easy access.

For my flower pot, I knew I wanted something of larger size and it would most likely be white in color. However, during my search, I did find other colors that peaked my interest which caused me to ponder a bit. After considering my home decor, I ultimately chose white and I am so glad I did. The flower pot that I chose was purchased from Ross and it did not disappoint. Yes, you heard me correctly, Ross Dress for Less! You will be pleasantly surprised at the interiors you can find at Ross Home Decor section so be sure to check it out in your local area.

Up next was the floral foam that I would use. There are so many different options to choose from so I took the size and shape of the pot into consideration. I ultimately chose the FloraCraft Fom Disc from Walmart. It fit the size and the shape of the pot almost perfectly. I have to nip and tuck and add a few pieces of the foam to provide for support. Note: another option is to use your glue gun to glue the foam in the pot but that's totally up to you.

Next up are the unbelievably stunning 50" white orchids that I purchased online from shopwildthings.com. As previously mentioned, I wanted an oversized dramatic showstopper. I'm always reluctant to buy things online but I am so glad I did because they are stunning in person! They are absolutely gorgeous and feel natural to touch.

For the orchid leaves, I purchased Miracily Phalaenopsis from Amazon that are absolutely beautiful in person. They feels real to the touch with EVA Rubber with latex to make it look real and when I tell you it definitely looks real! Each leaf comes with wire stems inside so that you can bend and shape the leaf to the look you want. The leafs are high quality and will not change color after years of use.

Orchids are known for having long stems which often requires support stakes. I purchased a 50pcs 18 inch Bamboo plant stakes from Amazon. They are crafted with natural and renewable materials, incredibly sturdy, provides the best support for your orchid. These stakes can also be used outside for outdoor gardening.

For filler, I went with artificial moss. It's made natural green moss and I used it to fill it the arrangement after everything was in place.

To hold the orchid stems and plant stakes together, I purchased some FloraCraft Gauge Floral Wire from Walmart. It's easy to use and cute to any desirable length to tie weak and leaning stems together.
