Quick and Easy Fall Decor Tips for the Season

Updated: Oct 26, 2023

Preparing my home for Fall is always an exciting time. Fall is fresh cool breezes, lattes and sweaters, pumpkin spice, and everything nice! One thing I love about Fall is seeing beautiful foliage and Autumn leaves all around. Also, with the Fall season come change in home decor for the interior and exterior of my home. I love to use the same decor from the start of Fall until after Thanksgiving. Here are 5 quick and easy decorating tips that I use to prepare for the Fall Season.

Festive Fall Doormat

I found this cute festive doormat from Walmart for under $15. Placing a doormat can quickly get the exterior of your home into the Fall Spirit. I usually place it on my front porch at the beginning of the Fall season and remove it the day after Thanksgiving to prepare for the Christmas holidays.

Front Porch Decor

This year, I purchased mums for the first time to place on my front porch. They come in a variety of colors and instantly gave the front exterior the pop it needed. While mums are known for their beautiful foliage, they can come with some maintenance. They love water so you have to constantly keep them watered or they will die quickly. The black lanterns are used year round as decor and they usually just fits in with every season. The mini pumpkins were purchased from Hobby Lobby and added just the hint of decor I needed.

Fall Wreath

Placing a festive fall wreath on your front door is pretty classic with each changing season to get into the spirit for whatever occasion you are celebrating. For this one in particular, I got creative. Instead of purchasing a new wreath, I simply added to the one I already had hanging on my front door. Before I added to it, It was pretty simple wreath with greenery. I then purchased some pumpkins and festive floral picks from Hobby Lobby for 50% off and my wreath was quickly transformed to a fall wreath in a matter in minutes.

For my fireplace mantel, I added a few mini pumpkins and pinecones that I purchased from Hobby Lobby. Though the outside of my home is very traditional with bright colors you typically see for Fall, I opted for non-traditional colors for the inside decor like white pumpkins, sage green, and more. My wedding colors were sage green, white, and champagne so that has been my theme color all year in every genre of my life. I then added some large size decorative pumpkins to the bottom of the fireplace.

Installing a centerpiece is another great way I love to transform my home during the holiday seasons. I simply used the original centerpiece that was already in place and added a few branches to make it festive.

That's it! It does not take much to get your home into the Fall Spirit. This year, Fall in Southern Alabama came after a very hot and brutal summer so I'm fully embracing this time of season. Next up is our favorite time of the year and the holiday that we take very seriously in our home, Christmas! Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post on how I prepare for Christmas.
