Preserving Sentimental Greeting Cards: Tips and Tricks You Need to Know

Updated: Jan 8, 2024

If you are anything like me and you love to preserve greeting cards that family and friends give you, this post is for you! I have been saving greeting cards that people have given me over the years mostly in photo boxes. However, sometimes when things are stored away in a box it can become out of sight, out of mind. I started to accumulate so many cards and started to think of ways I could preserve my cards in a way that they could be on full display when I need them. I first thought that placing them in a picture book would suffice but I didn't want to have to remove the card just to read the card. I also wanted to be able to see the front and back of the card in its entirety.

A quick search on Amazon and I found some 2 inch mini 3 ring binders that I thought would do the trick. They were available as a single, a pack of 2, or even a 6-pack. Needless to say, the binder is a mini version of your typical binder but I had trouble finding a mini version in the store. I immediately knew this would be a great way to store and organize my greeting card collection. I purchased a Set of 2, one for greetings cards from family and friends, and one for our household.

To get started, I organized all greeting cards based on the events: holidays, birthdays, special occasion, sympathy, and the list goes on. I then used a hole-puncher to insert holes into the cards so that I could place them in the binder and just like that, I had my greeting cards stored and organized! All it took was a simple mini binder to do the trick!

However, I wasn't finish just yet. I then went to Canva.com and created a cover page for the binder to spruce it up a little. I love anything floral so I found a simple floral template to use. One cover page simply said, "Greetings Cards" while the other stated "Wilson Greetings Cards" for our household family cards.

A quick idea and a purchase from Amazon and now I have my greeting card collection from over the years organized and ready to view! Most importantly, once the binder arrived, the project took less than an hour to complete. Reading through the cards has been so amazing and this project so worth it.
