Spring is officially upon us! That means brighter mornings, renewed energy, and the joy of sunshine ahead! Spring is beautiful foliage, fresh air, and new beginnings! Spring is out with the old, in with the new!
This is the ideal time to work on the things that you've put on hold, the perfect time to reset after all the cold weather, and a great time to take charge of the season. I hope these spring cleaning tips that I use to refresh my home inspire you to refresh and embrace the JOY that this year can bring-which ultimately starts within our homes first.
Cleaning our homes first is key before any organizing takes place. It's not good to organize with dust and debris lingering around. I always prefer starting within the interior of the home, then proceed to the exterior. Keep in mind that deep cleaning your home takes time so give yourself some grace and set an attainable timeline and deadline. If it takes 1 week, 2 weeks, or maybe even a month, do what works best for you and your household.
To get started, I usually gather all cleaning supplies together preferably in a basket for easy access while cleaning. This will eliminate a lot of interruption once you get started with cleaning.

Once you have gathered your cleaning supplies in one area, here are some ways to help you get started.
Dust
Dust collects in all areas of our home if it's done regularly and I usually start here first. Dusting your home frequently is important to keep down allergens, germs, and even bacteria that can accumulate. I highly suggest investing in a duster. There are plenty hand dusters available as well as an extended duster for surfaces that you can't reach by hand.
Sweep
Sweep all areas of your home that does not have carpet. You will be surprised at how much dirt and debris you collect over time just by taking the time to thoroughly sweep your home in its entirely. I know that you have to put a lot of energy into sweeping, but it has to be done before you mop your floors.
Mop
After a good and thorough sweep of the floors, follow up with mopping to give your floors a refresh and sparkle. Keep in mind the type of floors you have because tile flooring and hardwood flooring has different ways in which they should be cared for so be sure to perform your research before you get started.
Vacuum
When it comes to cleaning the carpet, I highly recommend a deep cleaning. You can hire a professional to come into your home or you can always invest your own carpet cleaning machine. Bissell is a great option because it does carpet cleaning, shampooing, and is ideal for cleaning most rugs.

Mirrors
Clean all mirrors in your home from the bathroom to the bedroom to all mirror decor. The last thing you want to see is a clean home with stains and fingerprints on your mirrors. Windex is always a great choice to use for cleaning. You can also invest in a microfiber cloth to help eliminate streaks.

Furniture
Spot cleaning and checking your furniture for any debris is very important. If you have kids, make sure there are not any crumbs or toys inside the couch. Wipe down legs and use a small hand vacuum to get into the crevices and areas that is hard to reach.

Bathroom
The bathroom is one of the most commonly used areas and a very important area for deep cleaning because of its ability to hold moisture, mildew, and potentially become a health hazard. Remove everything from the countertops, shelves, and even underneath your sink to thoroughly clean this area. Scrub toilets and bathtub in its entirety. Wash your shower curtain to make sure no mildew has built up from prolonged use.

Kitchen
Clean and disinfect all countertops and dining room tables to get rid of any debris or fingerprints. Clean your stove and microwave to get rid of any gunk or rust. This is also an area where a lot of food and crumbs can become hidden in cracks and surfaces

Bedding
Consider switching out your comforter for Spring to get a fresh start. Bedding can hold a lot of bacteria that's not visible to the eye so make sure to wash your bedding regularly and also wash them before change your bedding.
